GoogleBot and other robots
I have noticed some visits from bots, and Google now even shows my pages quite high - when the searches are specific enough ;)
But it frustrates me to see how many identical pages are indexed, just because some small parameter is different. So I had to learn how to make a robots.txt file. I have also made and submitted a proper sitemap, to guide the GoogleBot in the right direction.
I think I have figured it out now, and look forward to more streamlined robot visits, and a smaller and more correct amout of links from the major search engines.

The first dozen!
That's the first 12 fonts released - quite a landmark! :)
I'm pondering what might be suitable for the 13th release - keep your eyes peeled for something special...

CSS and Internet Explorer
I recently found out that for visitors using Internet Explorer the header for these pages was behaving badly: the logo was flush left and the menu strip was wider than the screen! Eeeek. :(
I had tested the site on MANY browsers, and every one was showing the same correct layout, so I just assumed it was working fine. But then IE had to throw a spanner in the works with its own interpretation of the CSS.
I have managed to tweak the CSS stylesheet and the layout so that the page still loooks the same in all other browsers, but now it also displays properly in Explorer. YAY! :)
Oh, well - back to the fonts!

Visitors! welcome!
The site has had its first external visitors, and I'm surprised to see browsers here so early - surprised in a good way, because I have not actively marketed the site yet (except for recently letting Google know it's here... ;)
But I am ready! Everything is working, there are just not really enough fonts here yet. :)
...
I have started work on some fonts from Ray Larabie, so soon there will be several fonts from all four designers on this site. And I will continue to rework fonts continuously. When I have a larger number of fonts I will start efforts to make the site better known - I mean, these fonts deserve a wider audience, right? ;)

Working on some more fonts
Busy working on 2 new fonts from Kevin King - two wonderful calligraphic fonts (with their various handdrawn shapes they need quite a few kerning pairs). Will be ready soon :)

The site is ready!
PayPal has been implemented and tested - font download links are working like they should and the site is actually ready to take orders! So now I just need to polish the presentation of the four fonts that are ready - and start reworking some more :)
I'm so proud I actually managed to stick to my deadline of having the site ready by the end of January. With a day to spare, even! ;)
It's been a busy month and a half...

Emails are up
My hosting provider had forgotten to give me the details needed for the email maintenance - no wonder I had problems getting it to work! ;)
But now I'm all set - email accounts are up and running. Time to make a PayPal account.

First Four Fonts Finalized
The site is up, the links have been made - so I have finally generated the first four fonts, prepared the files for download, and made (almost) all the graphics for them.
I have made an internal test purchase, and the download link works nicely. PayPal integration next - just need to get the email up first.

Still working on it
Apparently quiet on the pages, but I've been working behind the scenes: tweaking the CSS, page layouts etc.
I have also now purchased one year of hosting after trying it out for a couple of weeks, and am in the process of transferring the domain name. Boy, are the technicalities behind a website complicated and difficult for a novice like me!
Hopefully I will soon also have some proper email adresses to use, too.
I realize it's still some time until the site is ready for the public, and I'm trying to devide my time between working on fonts, and working on the website.

Beavering away...
A bit quiet on the blog, but the holiday season is over, and I do have other commitments (though none quite so exciting as this ;)
I have been working on some more fonts, though - I have 4 fonts reworked and ready now. I will not generate and upload these files until I have my site live with the proper domain, as I will include links etc. to the site in the font files themselves. I'll probably prepare 2-3 fonts for each of the 4 designers before I launch the site properly. This is fun, but a lot of work - I hope this special site will make enough sales to prevent a real loss - within a years time or so... :)
